Money: The zloty (z) is paper currency in 100 pennies. There are coins from 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 storm and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 zloties and the banknote 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 zloties. Currency reform replaced on January 1, 1995 10 000 old zloties on 1 new zloty. z1 = 0,31348 (or $1 = z3,19) as of 2005.

ARRANGEMENT, SIZE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Located in Eastern Europe, Poland has the area of 312 680 sq.km (120 726 quarter. Miles), 689 km long (428 miles) and also 649 km (403 miles) of nanosecond. It is limited on the Baltic Sea, across Russia and Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine, on Slovakia and the Czech Republic and also on Germany, with the general overland border of 2788 km (1,794 miles) and the coastline of 491 km (305 miles). Rather, the area occupied with Poland is a little less than State of New Mexico.

Before World War II Poland covered the territory of nearly 390 000 sq.km (150 600 quarter. Miles). On July 11, 1920 the truce mediated by Britain in the Polish and Soviet conflict established the "Kerzon's line" (called according to the proposal of the British statesman George Nathanael Kerzon), attributing the Soviet side of the former Austrian territory of Galicia. However, according to the Riga contract (1921), all Galicia was appointed to Poland, and the border to the east from Kerzon's line prevailed before World War II. At the Yalta conference in February, 1945 allies accepted the Soviet claims to east Poland, and the border passed approximately along Kerzon's line.

On April 21, 1945 the Polish and Soviet treaty of friendship and cooperation, and then the new agreement on the Polish and Soviet border was signed. To offset loss of 46% of the territory of Poland to the Soviet Union, the Potsdam conference of July-August, 1945 placed the former German territories to the east from the Oder Rivers (Odra) and Western Naas under the Polish administration, before final definition by the German world the contract. On August 6, 1950 between Poland and the GDR the agreement according to which both parties recognized border on the line Oder-Neysse was signed. The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) recognized this border according to terms of the contract, signed with Poland on December 7, 1970 and ratified by Germany on May 23, 1972.
