ABOUT THE COUNTRY

Before colonization by Europeans Cote d'Ivoire was the house for several states, including Gyaman, the Empire Kong and the Trunk. Two kingdoms of Ania, Indeevi and Sanvi, tried to save the personality through the French colonial period and after independence finding. Cote d'Ivoire became protectorate of France in 1843-1844, and then the French colony in 1893 against the background of the European fight for Africa. Ivory Coast reached independence in 1960 led by Felix Ufue-Buanyi who ruled the country till 1993. The country kept in a close political and economic contact with the West African neighbors and at the same time maintained close contact with the West, especially with France. After the termination of government of Ufue-Buinya in 1993 Cote d'Ivoire endured a coup in 1999 and two religious wars based on religion. The first took place during the period from 2002 to 2007, and the second - in 2010-2011. In 2000 the country adopted the new constitution.

HISTORY

It is difficult to define the first presence of the person in Cote d'Ivoire because human remains weren't well saved in a humid climate of the country. However again found fragments of weapon and the tool (in particular, the polished axes which are cut through by slate and the remains of cookery and trade) were interpreted as the possible instruction on presence of the big person in the period of the top paleolith (from 15 000 to 10000 BC) or, at least, the neolytic period.

GEOGRAPHY

Cote d'Ivoire - the country of the western Africa to the south from the Sahara. It borders on Liberia and Guinea in the West, on Mali and Burkina Faso in the north, on Ghana in the east and on the gulf Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) in the south. The country is between latitudes 4 ° and 11 °C. Sh.I longitudes 2 ° and 9 ° WL. About 64,8% of the earth are agricultural grounds, cropland is 9,1%, constant pastures - 41,5%, and constant cultures - 14,2%. Pollution of water is one of the biggest problems which the country faces now.

RELIGION

The religion in Cote d'Ivoire remains very non-uniform: Islam (almost all Sunni Muslims, some Muslims of Al Ahmadi) and the Christianity (generally Catholics with the smaller number of Protestants, first of all methodologists) which are the main religions. Muslims dominate in the north, and Christians dominate in the south. In 2009, according to estimates of U.S. State Department, Christians and Muslims made from 35 to 40% of the population whereas, by estimates, 25% of the population were engaged in traditional (animistic) religions.
