ABOUT THE COUNTRY

Nepal, the country of Asia lying along the southern slopes of the Himalaya ridges. It is the country which doesn't have an outlet to the sea located between India on the East, the South and the West and the Tibetan autonomous region of China in the north. Its territory stretches approximately for 500 miles (800 kilometers) from the East on the West and from 90 to 150 miles from the North on the South. The capital - Kathmandu. Nepal, long time which is under the power of the hereditary prime ministers preferring policy of isolation remained closed for the outside world until the revolt in the palace in 1950 restored authority of a crown in 1951; the country gained recognition in the United Nations in 1955. In 1991 the kingdom installed multi-party parliamentary system. However in 2008, after the ten-year period of violence and rough negotiations with a strong Maoist mutiny, the monarchy was dismissed, and Nepal was announced by the democratic republic.

ISOLATION

As a result of the long-term geographical and self-isolated isolation Nepal is one of the least developed countries of the world. In recent years many countries, including India, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Denmark, Germany, Canada and Switzerland, rendered the economic help to Nepal. Extent of the foreign help to Nepal substantially depends on strategic position of the country between India and China. Interacting between two giants, India and China, Nepal seeks to maintain balance between two countries in the foreign policy and, therefore, to remain independent. The fact which very strongly influences geopolitical value of the country is the fact that strong Nepal can deprive China of access to the rich Gangetic plain; Thus, Nepal notes the southern border of the Chinese sphere to the north from the Himalayas in Asia.

NATURE

Nepal contains one of the strongest and difficult mountain places in the world. About 75 percent of the territory of the country are covered with mountains. From the South on the North Nepal can be divided into four main physical belts, each of which stretches from the East for the West through the whole country. It is, first, Tarai, the low flat fertile earth adjacent to border of India; secondly, woody the Foothills of Churiya and a zone of Internal Tarai, rising from the plain Tarai to the strong ridge the Mahabharata; thirdly, middle mountains between the ridge the Mahabharata and the Great Himalayas; and, fourthly, the Big Himalaya ridge rising to more than 29 000 feet (about 8 850 meters).

CLIMATE

The climate of Nepal, under the influence of the eminence and also its arrangement in subtropical width, varies from subtropical monsoonal conditions in Taraye, thanking a warm temperate climate from 4000 to 7000 feet in the middle of mountain area, for cooling of moderate conditions in higher a part of mountains.
