ABOUT THE CONTINENT

New Zealand, Maori of Aotearoa, the island country in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, a southwest part of Polynesia. New Zealand is a remote earth - one of the last significant territories suitable for accommodation and resettlement of housing, and there are at distance more than 1000 miles (1600 km) to the southeast from Australia, her closest neighbor. The country includes two main islands - Northern and Southern islands - and a number of small islands some of which are in hundreds of miles from the main group. The capital - Wellington and the biggest city Auckland region; both are located on the Northern island. New Zealand operates the South Pacific island Tokelau group and applies for a part of the Antarctic continent. Niue and the Cook Islands are the self-coping states in free association with New Zealand. The state in a southwest part of the Pacific Ocean, in Polynesia, located on two large islands and a large number of adjacent smaller islands.

HISTORY

Though New Zealand is small, its geological history is difficult. The earth exists in the neighborhood of New Zealand for the most part of the last 500 million years. The earliest known breeds arose as sedimentary deposits about from 545 to 540 million years ago, at the end of Precambrian time (4,6 billion. Up to 541 million Years ago) and the beginnings of the period Cambria (541 million. Up to 485 million Years ago); their initial area was probably continental setups of Australia and Antarctica, and then a part of the nearby one supercontinent. Continental drift (the movement of big plates of crust) created a distinct island arch and an oceanic trench on the Carboniferous Period (about 359-299 million years ago) when rainfall began in lowlands (entrenchments) of sedimentary breeds which make about three quarters of New Zealand today. This Wednesday lasted about 250 million years and is characterized as the underestimated oceanic sedimentary breeds, and land volcanic breeds. This period was stopped in the West at the beginning of the Cretaceous (about 145 million years ago) of Rangitata Orogeny (an episode of mountain construction) though adjournment of a deposit in the east continued. These mountains slowly wore out because of an erosion, and the sea was broken, eventually covering almost all earth. At the end of an oligocene era (about 23 million years ago) Karokura-Orogeniya who again lifted the earth over the sea including the Southern Alps of the Southern island began. Many of the great terrestrial movements connected with this final orogenesis took place (and occur today) on breaks which divide a landscape into big blocks from which main thing is the Alpine error of the Southern island.
