ICELAND

The island - rather small territory which is completely surrounded with water. It is impossible to give total to islands which exist on the surface of the planet. As a result of an erosion or sea level rise some islands drowned over time. The longest saved islands usually proceed no more than 5-10 million years (The earth 4,5 billion years). The current volcanic activity continues to create new islands and to add to existing. On November 14, 1963 diving volcanic explosion at the southern coast of Iceland created the island Sursi which continues to get the earth as the current streams of a lava are cool.

Eight largest islands on Earth (in decreasing order): Greenland, New Guinea, Borneo, Madagascar, Island of Baffin, Sumatra, Honshu (the largest of the Japanese islands) and Great Britain. Islands can be divided into two types: continental or oceanic.

Continental regiments: The shipped, gradually inclined ledges of continents.

Hot spot: Plyuma magmas rise from crust.

Island arch: a curved number of islands of volcanic origin which develops where two plates, usually about the region of the continent meet.

Magma: hot liquid material which is the cornerstone of areas of volcanic activity; magma on the Earth's surface is called a lava.

Tectonics of plates: the geological theory in which it is said that crust is divided into a number of extensive lamellar cuts which move as separate masses over the surface of the planet.

Long, thin, sandy grounds which lie in shallow water parallel to the coast of the continent, are called barrier islands. These are technically not continental islands as they are formed by an erosion of bedrock (sand). Sand is transferred to coastal areas by the rivers, and then moved to the coast by strong waves and other ocean currents.
Oceanic islands

Oceanic islands aren't scattered on ocean waters. They arise because of volcanic activity at an ocean floor. Over time the cooled lava forms mountains which tops rise over the surface of the ocean as islands. According to the geological theory of a plate
