ABOUT THE COUNTRY

Malta is called one big museum under the open sky. What does it unique is that a lot of past is visible today. Malta has a rest as the mood captures you. And with almost year-round sun you can enjoy rest in the fresh air in the best possible way. Official currency on Malta is euro. The highest bill makes 500 euros and also notes of €100, €50, €20, €10 and €5. There are several places on Malta to exchange your money, such as banks, ATMs, foreign exchange offices and local tourist offices. However two main banks on Malta were Bank of Valletta (BOV) and HSBC within several years; recently the popularity got Banif Bank and several other banks. Bank offices and ATMs can be found across all Malta.

GEOGRAPHY

The landscape of Malta and other islands is characterized by terraces, dry vegetation, rocks and limestones. It is connected with long hours of strong sunlight which islands receive within a year and therefore that on Malta there are no constant rivers or lakes. Nevertheless, there are several waterways which supply limited fresh water within a year, for example, Luntszhat's valley in Gozo. Temporary small small rivers appear after strong rainfall. The Maltese woods were cut down many centuries ago, and the only trees which survive today are olives, a ficus, a citrus, a pine, a tamarisk and carob trees. On Malta and Gozo cultivate hills both for grapes, and for vegetables. The first skyscraper which was on Malta in the city of Sent-Dzhulian and Pachevil - heart of the Maltese night life. Bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs are concentrated in this area that after the sun sits down, it becomes very busy and brisk. Slim, on the other hand, is the main trade town which extends along the harbor Marsamsett to Saint-Julian. He offers a set of shops and shopping centers and also cafe and restaurants to refresh tired buyers.

CLIMATE

Climate on Malta - subtropical Mediterranean, with long, hot, dry and very solar summer and in the short, soft and slightly rainy winter. Such climate is characteristic of the majority of the countries of the Mediterranean Basin. Weather on Malta is stable, and average temperature is 22-23 °C in the afternoon, and at night - 15 °C. Temperature of the sea is 20 °C in January and 26 °C in August. Therefore swimming is possible all the year round (for more hardy people), sea temperature seldom falls below 15 °C. From June to November the average temperature of the sea exceeds 21 °C.
