ARRANGEMENT, SIZE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Cape Verde, of 4 033 sq.km (1,557 quarter. Miles), Senegal is located in the Atlantic Ocean approximately in 595 km (370 miles) to the west from Dakar. TOPOGRAPHY

The island chain has volcanic origin. Fogo have the only active volcano of Piko - to - Kano (the mountain of Fogo) which reaches 2829 m above sea level what is the highest point in to the country. Peaks on Santo-Antau and San Thiago are reached by 1,979 m (6 493 feet) and 1,392 m (4,567 feet), respectively. CLIMATE

The cold Atlantic stream creates the droughty atmosphere around the archipelago. There are two seasons: December-June cool and dry, with a temperature at sea level on average 21 °C (70 °F); July-November is warmer, with a temperature on average than 27 °C (81 °F). In spite of the fact that during the last season some rain, an amount of precipitation in general poor drops out. Accumulations usually about 13 cm (5 inches) a year on northern islands and 30 cm (12 inches) in the south. The archipelago is subject to cyclic droughts; the destructive drought began in 1968 and was interrupted only in 1975, 1978, 1984 and 1986.
