Berlin - the capital with stormy past, tigly centuries of history. Exempted from fragments by bombings of World War II and sharply divided by Cold War, the city worried and prospered thanks to courage, optimism and determination of the citizens. Today about four million people live in Berlin. The city is located on the North German plain approximately in 100 miles to the south from the Baltic Sea and in 50 miles to the west from the Oder River, modern border between Poland and Germany. Berlin is one of three cities of Germany which make certain Earth though it is completely surrounded with Earth Brandenburg.
