MONETARY BLOCK: The Swiss franc (SwFr) of 100 centimes, or раппен, is national currency. There are coins from 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 centimes and 1, 2 and 5 francs and the banknote of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 francs. SwFr 1 = $0,81301 (or $1 = SwFr 1,23) as of 2005.

WEIGHT AND MEASURES: the metric system is the legal standard.

HOLIDAYS: New year, on January 1-2; Labor Day, on May 1; Christmas, on December 25-26. Moveable religious feasts include Good Friday, Easter Monday, Rise and Uitmondey.

ARRANGEMENT, SIZE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The country which doesn't have an outlet to the sea in Central Europe, Switzerland has the area of 41 290 sq.km (15 942 sq. miles), 348 km long (216 miles) and 220 km (137 miles) of nanosecond. Rather, the space occupied by Switzerland is a little less, than twice more, than in New Jersey. TOPOGRAPHY

Switzerland is divided into three natural topographical regions: Mount Yura in the northwest, growing between Switzerland and east France; The Alps in the south covering three fifth territories of the country; and the central Swiss plateau or Mittellend consisting of fertile plains and hills which pass between Yura and the Alps. Mittellend with the average height of 580 m (1 900 feet) covers about 30% of Switzerland and is the center of the Swiss agriculture and the industry; Zurich, Bern, Lausanne and Geneva (Geneva) are on the plateau. The central part of the Alps, around St. Gottard's pass, is the main watershed and a source of Rein which flows down to the North Sea; Aare, Rein's inflow; Rhone which flows into the Mediterranean Sea; and Ticino, inflow On, and INN, inflow of Danube which flow into the Adriatic and Black seas respectively.

The highest point in Switzerland - Monte-Rosa's Dufourspitze at the height of 4 634 m (15 203 feet); the lowest is the coast of the lake Madzhore less than 195 m (640 feet). The second for height and the best-known of the Swiss Alps - Matterhorn (4 478 m / 14,692 feet), long time facing mountaineers and for the first time captured in 1865.
