Currency: nuevo sol (ml), paper currency of 100 centimos, inti with a speed of 1 000 000 = ml1 replaced on July 1, 1991, but in practice both currencies circulate. There are coins from 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 centimos and 1 nuevo sol and also notes from 10, 20, 50 and 100 nuevos of soles and 10 000, 50 000, 100 000, 500 000, 1 000 000 and 5 000 000 intis. ml1 = $0,30395 (or $1 = ml3,29) as of 2005.

WEIGHT AND MEASURES: the metric system is the legal standard.

ARRANGEMENT, SIZE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Peru is the third largest country in South America, of 1 282 220 sq.km (496 226 quarter. Miles), about 1 287 km long (800 miles) and 563 km (350 miles) of a не-sw. Rather, the area occupied with Peru is a little less, than a condition of Alaska. He is limited on the island Ecuador and Colombia, across Brazil and Bolivia, to Chile and in the Pacific ocean with the total length of earth of 5 536 km (3440 miles) and the coastline of 2,414 km (1500 miles).

Various coastal islands, mainly islands Chincha at Pisco in the south of Peru, are uninhabited, but at least 21 of them are important for economy of Peru and are protected by the state monopoly of a guano.

TOPOGRAPHY

Peru is divided into three contrast topographical regions: coast (Kostava), highlands (Sierra) and east rainforests (selva). The coastline represents a narrow tape of the desert plain from 16 to 160 km wide (from 10 to 100 miles). He is killed with 50 rivers in which about 40 oases are found. Only the few from these rivers which have the source in the Andean snow coast reach the sea year at all times. Though the coastal area makes only 12% of the national territory, it supports ports and the main towns of Peru.
