ABOUT THE COUNTRY

Following the Greek and bible traditions, a monument Adulitanum, the third century inscription belonging to the Axum empire specifies that the governor of Axum of that time operated the area which was surrounded in the West with the territory of Ethiopia and Sasa. The Axum king Ezana eventually will win against Nubia next century, and then Aksumita appropriated the designation "Ethiopians" for the own kingdom. In the geezsky version of an inscription of Ezana it is equated to nevokalizovanny (abashat) and for the first time designates inhabitants of mountainous areas of Axum. This new demony will be presented as subsequently "bsh (Abash) in Sabaika and as a babasha in Arabic.

GEOGRAPHY

On 1 126 829 square kilometers (435 071 quarter. Miles), Ethiopia is the country, the 27th in size, in the world, comparable by the size with Bolivia. It is between the third parallel North and the 15th parallel North and longitudes of the 33rd meridian of east and 48th meridians of the East.
The main part of Ethiopia is on the Horn of Africa which is the most east part of the African land. On border with Ethiopia there are Sudan and South Sudan in the West, Djibouti and Eritrea in the north, Somalia in the east and Kenya in the south. In Ethiopia there is an extensive mountain complex of the mountains and the dismembered plateaus divided by the Great rift valley which passes, as a rule, on the southwest to the northeast and is surrounded with lowlands, steppes or semi-deserts. A big variety of a landscape defines broad differences in climate, soils, natural vegetation and samples of settlements.

NATURE

The prevailing climatic type is the tropical monsoon with broad topographical change. The Ethiopian Highlands cover the most part of the country and have climate which is, as a rule, much more cool, than in other regions close to the Equator. The majority of the large cities of the country are located at the height about 2000-2 500 m (6552-820 feet) above sea level, including the historical capitals, such as Gondar and Axum and also the Lake Vonchi.
The modern capital, Addis Ababa, is located at the foot of Mount Entoto at the height about 2400 meters (7 900 feet). He tests soft climate all the year round. Quite uniform all the year round seasons in Addis Ababa substantially decide on temperatures by rainfall: a dry season from October to February, an easy rainy season from March to May and a heavy rainy season from June to September. The average annual amount of precipitation makes about 1200 millimeters (47 inches).

EDUCATION

In Ethiopia the Teveedo Church through many centuries dominated until secular education wasn't accepted at the beginning of the 1900th years. The current system corresponds to schemes of expansion of schools which are very similar to system in rural areas in the 1980th years, with addition of deeper regionalization.
